Recognised as one of Hollywood’s most iconic and phenomenal pop composers in the world, Hans Zimmer has created some of the most successful and influential film scores of our time. Having received his 11th Oscar in 2018 for writing the film score of Christopher Nolan’s box office hit Dunkirk, Hans Zimmer is the recipient of multiple Oscars, Grammys and Golden Globe Awards. Known for expertly intertwining electronic music sounds and traditional orchestral arrangements, Zimmer has composed music for over 150 films.
Beginning his career playing keyboards and synthesizers during the 1970s with the band Krakatoa, the Berlin-born composer went on to work with several artists such as the Buggles, Trevor Horn, Geoff Downes and Bruce Woolley. Throughout the early 1980s, Zimmer’s music career really took off whilst he produced music for a variety of new wave and punk bands.
Founding a record with film Stanley Myres, Zimmer began writing musical soundtracks for prolific films, and a turning point in his career was the musical score he wrote for Rain Man. Since then, his credits have included Disney’s the Lion King, the Dark Knight, Blade Runner 2049, Inception, Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, Sherlock Holmes, 12 Years a Slave and many more. For most of these musical scores, he has won a multitude of awards.
