Plot

Set in England 1536 during the time of Henry IV’s reign towards the end of his life, Anne Boleyn's fate is in the hands of the executioner whilst Jane Seymour is expected to deliver King Henry an heir. In the background, Thomas Cromwell is ascending to the pinnacle of his riches and power. Yet with the threat of invasion looming and the King’s legacy on the line, Cromwell could face his downfall…

  • Train: the closest train station to the Gielgud Theatre is Charing Cross Station which is only about a 15 minute walk away.
  • Tube: the nearest tube station to the theatre is Piccadilly Circus which is served by the Piccadilly and Bakerloo lines. Leicester Square tube station is a 7 minute walk away and is served by the Northern and Piccadilly lines.
  • Bus: bus routes 14,19 and 38 stop on Shaftesbury Avenue. Bus routes 6, 12, 23, 88, 94, 139, 159 and 453 stop closer to Piccadilly Circus.
  • Car: the Soho and Chinatown Q-parks are close to the Gielgud Theatre and these car parks participate in the Theatreland scheme. You can receive 50% off parking costs.

 Getting to the theatre

The Gielgud Theatre has an accessible entrance to the auditorium through the third side exit food on Rupert Street and there is a 12cm step up from the Dress Circle. 

Inside the theatre

Wheelchair spaces are available in the Dress Circle which is suitable for wheelchair and scooter users.

Customer Assistance

There is an at-seat service available in the theatre and there are also transfers available on any aisle seat. You are also able to store wheelchairs and scooters during the performance.
