First shown in the West End in 1999, at the Lyceum Theatre, this incredible show is still being performed. The story of Simba, Nala, Mufasa, Rafiki and all the other Disney characters continues to dazzle adults and children alike, more than 7,500 performances later.

With the original and unforgettable soundtrack by Elton John and Tim Rice, the musical includes additional compositions by Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, Julie Taymor and, of course, Hans Zimmer. But the success of The Lion King is not owing only to its songs. It boasts ground-breaking and daring set design, a colourful wardrobe and vibrant choreography.

The Lion King 2024

It’s been nearly 20 years since the musical first came out. 20 years of hits, music and legend. Do you want to see The Lion King musical in 2020? Performances will take place from Tuesday to Sunday, with a few exceptions. There are performances at 7:30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with matinees at 2:30pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Special effects

Theatrical fog and strobe lights are used at certain points in the performance. Please bear this in mind if members of your group could be sensitive to these effects.

Show running time

 It’s a long musical, lasting 2 hours and 30 minutes. This may be too long for some young children.

Recommended age

The show is open to children aged three and over, but the organisers recommend it for children aged six and over because, by that age, they’ll be able to fully enjoy the magnitude of the musical. Remember that children under three years of age are NOT allowed.

Cheap Tickets

Which are the cheapest tickets? 

There are some more-affordable seats that you can buy online. The cheapest seats cost around £35 or £40. Buying online is the best way to get them. We recommend planning your visit in advance because that will give you a much greater chance of getting them. You’ll find these seats in the grand circle and they normally sell out very quickly.

When can I get the cheapest tickets? 

The performances with the cheapest prices take place on Tuesday. There are two performances, which means you can choose between 2:30pm and 7:30pm.

Excellent The Lion King definitely lives up to it\'s reputation of being one of the best musicals of all time! I loved every second of it - the colour, the music and the dancing. It is a really unique musical experience and I recommend it to anyone!
