Plot

Young Aladdin is a petty thief trying to survive on the streets of Agrabah. In a life replete with contrasts, it isn’t easy to fill your stomach. On one of his incursions to get bread, young Aladdin is arrested and locked in prison, where he meets a mysterious old man.

Together, they manage to escape. They go to rob the Cave of Wonders, a place that contains all the riches imaginable. The old man, Aladdin and Aladdin’s monkey, Abu, manage to get inside the cave, but a land movement caused by the greedy monkey makes the cave fall in. Aladdin finds himself trapped inside. But then something unexpected happens: a magic lamp, home to a genie, who grants the master of the lamp three wishes.

So, Aladdin manages to escape and meet Jasmin, a young princess, desperate to see the world beyond the walls of her palace. She categorically refuses to accept the arranged marriage her father has agreed with Jafar, who is no other than the old man from the prison and who also wants to get his hands on the lamp. Will Yasmin fall in love with young Aladdin? Will Jafar get away with his sinister plans? And what about the genie of the lamp? Will he ever be free? Find out for yourself!

• Stalls: this section is home to the most comfortable seats with the best view in the theatre, but they’re also the ones that command the highest prices. The price for the seats nearest the stage is between £68 and £106, since they’re the best place to enjoy the show. In the rows behind, you can find seats from £56 to £80. There are also seats with a limited view and ones under the floor above, which are priced at just £45.
• Dress circle: the dress circle offers prices between £54 and £78, depending on how close you are to the stage. If unsold isolated seats are left over, their price normally drops. Have a look at the side seats because some are just £45!
• Grand circle: you can get more affordable tickets here, priced from £30 to £50. The seats at the front will cost you £45, while the ones at the back go as low as £30. Sometimes, isolated seats are left unsold in the front section and they’re also priced at £30. You can also find offers, where you can scoop up discounted tickets for just £25.

*Note: you can frequently find last-minute special offers. Don’t stop searching for tickets for forthcoming weeks, in case you manage to find your seat at a lower price than usual.

Aladdin at the Prince Edward Theatre

The Prince Edward Theatre is one of the largest and best-known theatres in the West End of London. Built nearly 90 years ago, its address is: Old Compton St, London W1D 4HS. 

You can drive there or go by public transport. The second option makes the experience of going to the theatre in a big city like London more pleasant. You can get there by train (Charing Cross is just 550 m away), underground (Leicester Square is 300 m away; Tottenham Court Road is 400 m away), or bus. Bus lines 3, 6, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, 22, 23, 38, 88, 94, 139, 159 and 453 all go there.

Accessibility

Accessibility varies depending on where you want to sit. 

• Stalls: there are 22 steps between the stalls and the vestibule. Though they’re not recommended for people with reduced mobility, they could be a suitable choice for people who need extra leg room (isolated seats and L zone).
• Dress circle: this is accessed from the vestibule (13 steps), and from the second entrance on Greek Street, which is adapted via a small ramp. 
• Grand circle: not recommended for people with reduced mobility since there are a lot of steps up to the grand circle from the vestibule and leg space is limited. Guide dogs and assistance dogs are allowed into the auditorium. The bathroom adapted for people with reduced mobility is in the vestibule. For more information, please call 0344 482 5137.

Useful Information

• Recommended age: the musical is suitable for all audiences, but the organisers recommend it for children over six years old since they’ll be able to fully appreciate the magnificence of the show. Remember that children aged under three are NOT allowed into the theatre. Children aged under 16 must sit with their accompanying adult. They may not sit alone or away from them.
• Special effects: the Aladdin musical uses strobe lights, theatrical fog, pyrotechnics and very loud noises. The theatre will also be in complete darkness for several seconds during the show. It’s important to bear this in mind if members of your group may be sensitive to these situations and effects.
• Show running time: the show lasts for two and a half hours. Please take this into consideration if you’re planning to go with small children.

Cheap Tickets & Offers

The most affordable performances take place from Monday to Thursday, and you can find the cheapest seats in the grand circle. Sometimes, isolated seats are left unsold in other zones and their price is reduced.

The first performance of the musical was on 15 June 2016 in the West End and, since then, no one has been disappointed.
