The Taming of the Shrew, one of Shakespeare’s most iconic plays, returns to its original home at the Globe Theatre’s Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. Set in an intimate, indoor candle lit setting in the Sam Wanamaker, the Taming of the Shrew is a deep exploration into femininity and masculinity.

Directed by Maria Gaitanidi, this adaptation of the Taming of the Shrew is unique and experimental in its portrayal of a timeless classic. Purchase your tickets now to be transported back to the 16th century in the Globe Theatre itself.

Plot

Daughters of the wealthy man named Padua, headstrong Katherina, the shrew, and her sister Bianca, are ready to marry. However, Katherina, the eldest sister, must marry first before the youngest is able to marry. Katherina is courting Petruchio, who ‘tames’ Katherina into being a more compliant, ‘ideal’ wife.

Taming of the Shrew tickets at the Sam Wanamaker theatre start at £12 and are as expensive as £60. The Globe’s Sam Wanamaker theatre is a new indoor theatre within the Globe’s theatre and is divided into the Upper Gallery, the Lower Gallery the Pit and the Lord’s boxes to the sides of the stage.
