First shown in the West End in 1999, at the Lyceum Theatre, this incredible show is still being performed. With the original and unforgettable soundtrack by Elton John and Tim Rice, the musical includes additional compositions by Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, Julie Taymor and, of course, Hans Zimmer. But the success of The Lion King is not owing only to its songs. It boasts ground-breaking and daring set design, a colourful wardrobe and vibrant choreography.

It’s been nearly 20 years since the musical first came out. 20 years of hits, music and legend. Do you want to see The Lion King musical in 2020? Performances will take place from Tuesday to Sunday, with a few exceptions. There are performances at 7:30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with matinees at 2:30pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
You get all the classics: “Circle of Life”, “Grasslands Chant”, “The Morning Report”, “The Lioness Hunt”, “I Just Can't Wait to Be King”, “Chow Down”, “They Live in You”, “Be Prepared”, “The Stampede”, “Rafiki Mourns”, “Hakuna Matata”, “One by One”, “The Madness of King Scar”, “Shadowland”, “Endless Night”, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”, “He Lives in You”, “Simba Confronts Scar” and “King of Pride Rock/Circle of Life”.
Theatrical fog and strobe lights are used at certain points in the performance. Please bear this in mind if members of your group could be sensitive to these effects.
It’s a long musical, lasting 2 hours and 30 minutes. This may be too long for some young children.
The show is open to children aged three and over, but the organisers recommend it for children aged six and over because, by that age, they’ll be able to fully enjoy the magnitude of the musical. Remember that children under three years of age are NOT allowed.

Medford as Banzai, Christopher Holt as Ed and Dawn Michael as Sarabi.
Over the years, some of these actors have stayed while others have changed. Despite this, the essence, eagerness and talent of every actor and technician remains the same. The latest members of The Lion King cast are: George Asprey as Scar, Shaun Escoffery as Mufasa, Gugwana Dlamini as Rafiki, Gary Jordan as Zazu, Ben Heathcote as Timon, Keith Bookman as Pumba, Nick Afoa as adult Simba, Janique Charles as adult Nala, Meloné M’Kenzy as Shenzi, David Blake as Banzai, Barnaby Thompson as Ed, Ta’niyah Fearon-Telfer as young Nala and Theo Grant as young Simba, not to forget an extensive supporting cast that gives life to the entire African savanna.
There are some more-affordable seats that you can buy online. The cheapest seats cost around £35 or £40. Buying online is the best way to get them. We recommend planning your visit in advance because that will give you a much greater chance of getting them. You’ll find these seats in the grand circle and they normally sell out very quickly.
The performances with the cheapest prices take place on Tuesday. There are two performances, which means you can choose between 2:30pm and 7:30pm.
